Stress Management

There is no "system" to manage stress, and there is no program available for purchase that can eliminate chaos and instantly install a sense of calm.

Stress is an inevitable part of life, and while some stressors are within our sphere of control, many lie outside of it. This is why I have grown to dislike the term "stress management." It suggests that we have the power to conquer the world, as if we could magically erase the challenges posed by the cost of living crisis.

What truly matters is our capacity to hold the emotional charge that stress brings, to remain present with it without feeling the urge to escape or hide beneath the covers.

Equally important is the practice of releasing that emotional charge and allowing ourselves time to recover. Otherwise, stress accumulates within our system, leading to further stress.

These essential capacities can be cultivated through somatic practices, which form an integral part of my coaching programmes. Reading alone cannot free us from stress and burnout; instead, we need to actively engage in the practice of these skills. Yes, practice!

If you feel like you could use a sparring partner to practice these skills, get in touch.
